Gather Yourself for the Season Ahead

Sunday, November 1st · 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. ET · Black Mountain, NC

A Holistic Mini Retreat - Fall

Led by a mindfulness teacher, Wired magazine called a "power player of the mindfulness movement," alongside a licensed Traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and a functional-medicine chiropractor.

For you if the season change is already asking something of you — shorter days, cooler air, a body that feels the shift before your calendar does. If you're heading into the holidays already depleted, and you'd rather arrive rested than run down.

And for the curious: if you've wondered about Traditional Chinese medicine, meditation, or Applied Kinesiology but weren't sure where to start, this is a gentle way to experience all three in one afternoon, with an experienced care team guiding every step.

Come Back to Yourself — with a care team

Sunday, November 1st · 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m ET

Location: @Mindful Wellness Space, Black Mountain, NC

Investment: $120 · Early bird $85 through October 17th

YOUR CARE TEAM

You’re Invited…

Fall asks something of the body.

The light changes. The air turns. Old symptoms stir, sleep shifts, energy dips — and just as our systems are working hardest to adapt, the busiest stretch of the year arrives. Most of us push straight through it and wonder, come January, why we feel so worn.

This is the pause before that.

It's hard to take care of ourselves alone. More and more, research points to something many of us already feel in our bodies: we heal better in community. Healing is a team sport.

So on the first Sunday of November, our care team is making the space — one afternoon to settle your nervous system, support your body through the turn of the season, and gather what you need for the months ahead. Every part is optional. Take what serves you, and leave the rest.

Mindfulness Meditation

with Emily Horn, CMT-P
A Certified Mindfulness Teacher with Retreat Leadership training by Spirit Rock Meditation Center & Insight Meditation Society, called a "power player of the mindfulness movement" by Wired.
You'll learn to pair mindfulness with loving-kindness practice to settle the nervous system and meet the season with warmth rather than bracing.

Applied Kinesiology & Functional Medicine

with Dr. Kirsten West, DC, MS
A Doctor of Chiropractic with a Master of Sports Science & Rehabilitation and advanced training in functional medicine and Applied Kinesiology.
You'll discover how gentle muscle testing can uncover what's quietly draining your defenses, plus what functional-medicine testing reveals about supporting them — including the essentials worth keeping in your holistic medicine cabinet

Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

with Pomai Nakoa, L.Ac.
Valedictorian of her Master's in Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element–certified, who came to this work through her own healing from chronic illness.
You’ll learn how Traditional Chinese Medicine practices of Gua sha, Qi Qong, breath work, and key meridian points support immunity and lymphatic flow before cold and flu season

WHY THESE THREE, TOGETHER

Every season asks the body to adapt, and fall asks a lot: less light, more cold, more demand. When a nervous system is already running in overdrive — bracing, gripping, scanning — it has little left for that work. That's why so much flares this time of year.

Rest, clearer intuition, immunity, and lasting healing all begin in the same place: a nervous system that feels comfortable enough to settle.

That's the thread through the whole afternoon. Three approaches, each reaching that same system through a different door — mind, energy, and body — and each attuned to what this particular season asks. Every session pairs a little teaching with a real treatment, so you don't just feel the shift, you understand how to keep it going at home.

An Afternoon FOR YOU

The whole afternoon moves in a deliberate arc: first we settle the mind, then we shift the body into rest-and-repair, then we listen for what your system needs next. Each of our three practitioners leads a 45-minute session pairing a little teaching with a real treatment, with breaks to breathe in between.

1:00 — Tea & Opening · Arrive, pour a cup, set your intention, and settle in together.

1:15 — Meditation, Loving Kindness & Nervous System Reset · · with Emily Horn · Autumn asks us to let go — and as the light shifts, grief and tenderness often surface alongside it. We'll weave mindfulness with loving-kindness practice: first settling the nervous system, then meeting whatever this season is asking of you with warmth instead of resistance. Both practices have been studied for their effects on stress and immune function, which makes this a fitting doorway into the afternoon. You'll leave with a practice you can return to all season — and take home.

2:00 — Break · Pause, stretch, refill your tea.

2:15 — Traditional Chinese Medicine · with Pomai Nakoa · How Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities such as gua sha and qi gong, can support your Metal Element through the Autumn to boost immunity. Through movement, breath work, and the activation of specific meridians and acupuncture points, you will learn how to support your immune system, promote lymphatic drainage, and release muscle tension in areas commonly affected by cold and flu season.

New to these? Gua sha is a gentle, soothing technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to stroke the skin along the muscles — easing tension, encouraging circulation and lymphatic flow, and helping release the tightness that settles into the neck, shoulders, and upper back. No needles, and you'll learn how to do it on yourself at home. Qi gong is a slow, meditative practice of simple movement paired with breath — think of it as moving meditation. It's gentle enough for any body and any experience level, done standing or seated, and it's traditionally used to build energy and support the body's natural defenses.

3:00 — Break · Move, breathe, reset.

3:15 — Applied Kinesiology & Functional Medicine · with Dr. Kirsten West · What's quietly draining your immune system? You'll discover how gentle muscle testing helps your body "talk" — uncovering the underlying stressors working against your body's defenses — plus what functional-medicine testing reveals about supporting it, including go-to essentials worth keeping in your holistic medicine cabinet. There will also be space to answer any immune system questions that you may have. As individual check-ins happen, you're warmly invited to journal, listen to music, or return to the meditation you learned.

4:00 — Closing Gather, integrate, and carry the afternoon with you.

Muscle testing is optional and focuses on emotional reset and basic supplements — bring up to three of your own or test for a primary supplement for immune system if they are not sure where to start. This session offers functional-medicine education, not chiropractic adjustments.
